Happy New Year, Everyone!
As we usher in 2024, HoneypotDB is set to embark on an exciting journey with a multitude of plans on the horizon.
Welcoming a New Team Member
Let’s kick things off by extending a warm welcome to our co-founder, Matt, who has officially joined the team on a full-time basis! 👏 Matt has been an integral part of the project from the early days when we worked on it as a hobby project. His exceptional Python skills, development ethos, and meticulous attention to detail have played a crucial role in propelling HoneypotDB’s development forward.
With Matt taking on an expanded role, he will be at the forefront of key technical decisions, steering the direction of our codebase, and contributing significantly to the growth of our product. I’m thrilled to continue our winning streak together.
Clearing Technical Debt
Since Matt’s inception and throughout December, we’ve been hard at work addressing technical debt. This includes resolving longstanding issues, tackling stale tasks lingering in the backlog, and, Matt’s favorite thing, rewriting some legacy code. Our primary goal is to ensure our codebase remains maintainable and optimized, allowing us to swiftly introduce new features.
Continued SDK Work
Speaking of new features, Matt’s expertise in Python has been pivotal in our efforts in creating a Python SDK. This versatile library acts as a swiss army knife, simplifying the integration with HoneypotDB’s API. We’re also planning to internally use the same API, ensuring that our tooling is not only user-friendly but also performs seamlessly.
Postponement of Initial Release
Due to our focus on addressing technical debt and other unforeseen delays, our initial product release is now slated for Q1 2024. We want to ensure that everything is running seamlessly before handing over the reins to you. Your patience will undoubtedly be rewarded with a refined and polished HoneypotDB experience.
The Plan for 2024
Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to have Matt on board, especially considering our collaborative history back when HoneypotDB was a hobby project. We are gradually gearing up for our initial release in 2024. Additionally, we’re excited about leveraging the DiSH MCR Accelerator (More on that soon!) and actively seeking initial investments to kickstart our growth.
